Beauty Therapy QCF (NVQ) Level 2

How & what will I learn?
With this fun and exciting course you will learn the following aspects of Beauty Therapy:
• How to promote additional services or products to clients
• How to develop and maintain your effectiveness at work
• How to fulfil salon reception duties
• How to provide facial skin care treatments
• How to enhance the appearance of eyebrows and lashes
• How to carry out waxing services
• How to provide manicure services
• How to provide pedicure services
• Provide make-up services

The programme will include tutor demonstration and practice in our busy salons, open learning packages, work experience, portfolio building and personal tutorials.

Induction
Induction is held on the first morning of your course. Induction will include everything you need to know about your course and how you will learn, also the issuing of relevant paperwork and workbooks. It will also provide the opportunity for you to meet other members of your class. Your first day at our centre will also include a practical and theory session.

How long does the course last?
This is an intensive course that lasts for 24 weeks. This course runs 2 days per week.

Will I have to take an exam?
You will be continually assessed through observation of practical skills, oral questioning, assignment work and written questions. Assessment will take place when you feel ready, although we do encourage assessment if we feel you can achieve the necessary level of competence. You will be required to sit examinations set by the awarding body throughout the course, these will be done continually throughout the course.

What qualifications will I gain?
VTCT QCF (NVQ) Level 2 Diploma.

Progression on completion & career opportunities
On successful completion you can work in the industry or undertake further study of VTCT Level 3 in Beauty Therapy or Holistics, which could lead to television or theatre work, cruise ships, health farms, health spas and salon management.

Other information to consider

You will need to purchase a beauty kit, salon uniform and stationery for portfolio (lever arch file, dividers, plastic wallets, pens pencils etc).

• Beauty Kit – Approximately £105+VAT
• Uniform, Tunic – Approximately £45+ VAT and posting

Qualifications needed to start
This course is aimed towards the 18+ learners, for acceptance on this course learners need to show that they are highly committed and motivated.
You will need to have minimum 4 A - Cs grades at GCSE or Level 1 Beauty Therapy Qualification.
You will also need to show enthusiasm and have good communication skills. Although GCSE’s are important other qualifications and life skills and attributes can be taken into account.

Initial Assessment
At your interview you will be required to undertake an initial assessment in Literacy & Numeracy. To attend a level 2 course you should achieve at least level 1 on this assessment. Should you not achieve this an informed decision will be made depending on the actual result
