Emergency first aid at work courses from our team of experienced instructors in West Yorkshire.
Description: This HSE approved qualification came into effect on the 1st October 2009 along with guidance on assessing the First Aid needs of the workplace.
Depending on the workplace, the risk assessment may identify the need for emergency first aiders in addition to first aiders or, in lower risk businesses, it may identify emergency first aiders as sufficient.
Duration: A minimum of 6 hours consisting of both theoretical and practical activities.
Syllabus:
responsibilities and reporting
assessment of the situation
basic hygiene in first aid
dealing with an unresponsive casualty
resuscitation
heart attacks
bleeding control
minor injuries
angina
choking
shock
seizures
Certification: Assessment is ongoing by the instructor and a 3 year qualification will be issued to those who meet the criteria. In addition, the HSE strongly recommends that all students undergo an annual refresher course which lasts 3 hours, although this is not mandatory.
